Technical Aspects„Bridges“ is an animation short with a central core of rotoscoped live-action composited over CGI-Backgrounds. Rotoscoping is an animation technique in which animators trace over live-action film, though the term also refers to the technique of manually creating a matte for an element on a live-action plate so it may be composited over another background. Using this technique the real actors’ and actresses’ facial expressions, gestures and general appearances remain unchanged but seem animated. All other elements – planes, cars, skies, buildings etc. – will be computer generated, while asthetically recreating the visual style of a black and white graphic novel.
The non-virtual scenes will be shot on the revolutionary RED One camera-system. Because of the RED One’s 4k recording-technique it is possible to create the look of a 35mm film for a reasonable price without any losses in picture quality. Further more the digital data can be screened, checked and even processed on set, considerably lowering the costs as usually involved with using celluloid. |
